I'd spend hours in thoughtful repose while gazing into the crimson void above. The sun had abandoned its place in the sky as had the moon. The celestial coordinates of planet earth had changed. Planets drifted by, so close I was sure I could reach out and touch them. Beyond that celestial beauty was an unfathomable void of darkness - a place that was beyond the realms of human comprehension.
My mortal senses could only grasp a fraction of what was to follow. The limitations of my primitive brain gave rise to much frustration, until I learned to adapt to a new and extraordinary transcendental existence. In my naivety I had assumed the cosmos to be ruled by corporeal law. But this new world was governed by far greater things; man had merely provided the foundations.
The heavens held so many visions for me to wonder at; Citadels of glass created to the most intricate architectural design, a sprawling conurbation bustling with alien life, a neon metropolis filled with a kaleidoscope of colour and light. My voyeuristic eyes feasted upon forests where the trees grew into the clouds, where the dense, arboreal canopy covered a tropical forest brimming with reptilian quadrupeds. Inverted oceans filled the sky and waves big as houses rolled above my head.
Such incongruous images were drawn from my own evolving imagination, sculptured from dreams and merged into one phantasmagorical world. This was imagery drawn from the intellect and artistry of man. Masterpieces sculptured in words and art, and made real to the most infinitesimal detail.
This new world, born of earth, was a creation of aspirations and dreams. The inspiration of the common man, of prophets and philosophers, filtered and distilled into an architectural utopia - the conclusion of a genetically driven process.
The road to this new place would not be paved by the blood and suffering of others. The threat of eternal misery and suffering was gone. Blind faith and biblical allegories had no place here. This was to become a world of integrity and inspiration…and wonder.
